The volunteers based in Chennai have been actively implementing the MyTree project across multiple locations within the city through the month of September 2016. After the great response received during the initial tree planting carried out at the Army Public School (Nandambakkam) on 9th September, several more drives were successfully organized in the next two weeks –

16th September – MyTree at OFG, Army Quarters, Chennai

The planting at the Army quarters was carried out on 16th September. Following an introductory talk on the MyTree project, there were 10 saplings planted by the soldiers. These trees have been dedicated to our brave Kargil heroes.

17th September – MyTree at SRM University, Chennai

The Environment Club of SRM University participated in the MyTree planting initiative on 17th September. The students of the club planted 20 saplings in the campus grounds led by the counselor, Mrs. Mukta Joshi.

19th September – MyTree at Jeevan Gnanodaya Deaf and Dumb School, Chengalpet

The MyTree initiative was taken to the Jeevan Gnanodaya Deaf and Dumb School in Chengalpet on 19th September. The students, teachers and the principal of the school, Mr. Devarajan, participated in the event with much enthusiasm and planted 32 saplings.

22nd September – MyTree at Shraddha Children’s Academy, Chennai

The MyTree initiative was taken to the Shraddha Children’s Academy, Chennai on 22nd September. The class five students and their teachers, led by the principal Mr. Rajendran, participated in the tree planting drive. 10 Saplings were planted by the children accompanied by the Satsang Foundation volunteers present. Following the planting activity, the Satsangis talked to the students about the importance of planting and nurturing trees and encouraged them to take care of the saplings going forward.
