As the blossoms of March gave way to the soaring temperatures of April 2026, the Satsang Seva Mission (SSM) transformed empathy into action. While our community kitchens—Madhu Ki Rasoi in Mathura-Vrindavan and Madanapalle—maintained their daily rhythm of service, and our daily and weekly annadaanam sevas sustained marginalized groups across Mumbai and Bengaluru, several special initiatives across India brought "Seva" to life quite gently.
Delhi-NCR
In the bustling sprawl of the national capital, migrant workers who build our skyline but often lack a roof of their own received a temporary respite with fresh meals offered with much humility and gratitude. Labour Chowk, Sector 62 in Noida is a hub for workers, hoping to garner a job for the day and earn their daily wages. Honoring 500 workers with a filling breakfast, offering them a strong start to a tedious day of hard labour, volunteers committed to support them once a month.
The shadows of distant conflict in West Asia cast a sense of gloom over a labor camp in Sarojini Nagar, Delhi with LPG shortages and a disruption of regular meal preparation. Expressing solidarity with our ‘city makers’ a vital annadaanam seva unfolded at their project site before the construction workers moved on to their next assignment.
Mumbai
Forty bright souls from Grades 5 to 7 at Mithanagar Semi-English School, Goregaon who had walked a steady yoga journey through the scholastic year gathered for a tender session—a moment of reflection, gratitude, and togetherness.
The session opened with a prayer, invoking blessings from our teachers and the lineage of wisdom that guides us. A gentle recap of our curriculum followed, reminding the children of the rhythm and discipline they had embraced.
Handouts were then shared—simple sketches of Surya Namaskar and notes on the philosophy of yoga—gifts for their summer days, to be read, reflected upon, and practiced whenever their hearts call. Alongside, a few chocolates sweetened the moment, symbols of joy and appreciation.
The gathering closed not with farewell, but with a quiet resolve: to carry forward what has been learned, to nurture it in silence and practice, and to return in the coming academic year with renewed focus and enthusiasm.
As temperatures began to rise, our southern and central teams stepped up to provide essential supplies and cooling comfort.
Nagpur
At Shrikrishna Shantiniketan Women’s Shelter, a home for differently-abled women and women in distress, a month’s supply of essential dry grains, semolina, and cooking oil, ensured their nutritional needs are met with dignity and warmth.
Hyderabad
The young residents for Mathru Abhaya Foundation received supplies of dry groceries and cups of fresh, home-made buttermilk. The visit turned into a heartwarming afternoon of "friendly banter" with the children about their school dreams and hobbies.
Warangal
Buttermilk Seva providing relief from the scorching heat with home-made buttermilk for over 450 people near the MGM Hospital. For the family members of hospital patients, who often wait hours in the sun, those glasses of buttermilk were more than just a drink—they were a moment of visible care.
