Sri-M-29When Patanjali defines yoga in the yoga sutras, he defines it as ‘yogas chitta vritti nirodha’ which means yoga is the stopping or the stilling of the ‘vrittis’ of the ‘chitta’. ‘Chitta’ means mind stuff - thoughts. We all know that, when we say mind, it is a collection of thoughts. One cannot conceive of a mind without thought.

I really appreciate these explanations of sanskrit terms. What an amazing language. Such depth!
