In ancient times, in the olden days, all householders had a fire in their house for homa. It’s called the Fire and it’s a ritual. It means lighting the Fire for offering thanks to the Creator. It also means the fire of the desire for spiritual fulfillment which is inside.  The internal fire or Agni has to be kept burning.
