In the olden days the Upanishads used Agni or the fire as a symbol to describe the spirit. Fire is always there in the wood. It comes out when you have friction. So, the spirit is in the body, it comes when you do your practice, the churning. If you light something, the fire will always burn up. It will not burn down. It uplifts you.
