To free yourself from illusions the senses build for us and how we get caught by it, one of the ways is to be eternally watchful and that watchfulness is called awareness. Buddhists call it mindfulness. Every action you do, just reflect and see, am I doing it for the good of someone or am I actually doing it because I want to satiate my desires.
