Shiva is greatly compassionate and, if necessary, he is also the one who performs the Tandava Nritya. Tandava Nritya is the dance of destruction. For the yogi, Tandava Nritya is the destruction of all that limits the self. The dance of destruction clears away all the accumulated muck. He is Nataraja, the king of dancers. Shiva also represents the dance of life.
