The auspicious occasion of Shivaratri was celebrated with utmost reverence and grace at the Adinath Sriguru Mahavatar Babaji Temple.
Beginning with the dawn aarti at 6 am, the temple resounded with the sounds of damrus and the shankh – known to dispel negativity and enhance spiritual energy.

As the day unfolded, a special ceremonial procession began at the temple. The Utsava Murtis of Sriguru Babaji and Maheshwarnath Babaji were borne upon a palanquin by a total of thirty bearers who took turns moving in rhythmic harmony towards the Shivalaya.

Sri M initiated the celebrations by offering flowers and obeisance to the Shivalinga, the Sri Chakra, and Lord Ganesha at the Shivalaya. He then performed the sacred aarti to the deities and the Utsava Murtis as the damrus and the shankh echoed through the courtyard.

As dusk descended at 6 pm, Sri M attended the evening aarti at the temple, with the flames of the diyas lighting up Sriguru Babaji’s and Maheshwarnath Babaji’s visages. This was followed by the recital of the sacred Rig Vedic hymn Sangacchadhwam in Sri M’s voice, symbolising unity, harmony and collective purpose, bringing together all seekers on the spiritual path.
The Ananta Rupini hymn followed dedicated to the Divine Mother, who is represented in the temple by the Sri Chakra (Sri Yantra), praising her as an all-powerful, and compassionate goddess who sustains the universe, removes misfortunes, grants wisdom, and bestows both worldly joy and spiritual liberation.
While the temple traditionally hosts special aartis on Amavasya (New Moon) nights in total darkness, a grander version of this tradition unfolded on Shivaratri.
At the magic hour of midnight, all temple lights were switched off and into the heart of that divine darkness and peace, the priest brought in the glowing flames of the aarti diyas, swirling them before the presiding deities of the temple. This Deep Aarti attended by devotees, created an atmosphere of deep introspection and reverence, symbolizing the light of consciousness piercing the darkness of ignorance.
