Building Healthier Futures: Swaasthya Hospital’s Comprehensive Pediatrics Department

At Swaasthya Hospital, we believe every child deserves the healthiest possible start in life. Women’s health and children’s health have always been two of our prime focus areas. To strengthen this commitment, our Pediatrics Department was launched in December 2024, alongside our comprehensive Mother & Child Unit fully launched in March 2025, representing our integrated approach to healthcare from pregnancy through adolescence.

A Comprehensive Pediatrics Department for Complete Care

Our Pediatrics Department is dedicated to delivering comprehensive child healthcare for the community. Staffed with resident and consultant paediatricians and supported by a dedicated Pediatrics Ward and nursing team, we provide round-the-clock expert care for children up to 18 years of age.

Our department functions across two key areas:

  • In-House Pediatrics – providing complete medical care for children requiring immediate attention, specialized interventions, or long-term management.
  • Active Community Outreach – extending pediatric care into schools and communities through screenings, follow-ups and health education.

Supporting these functions is our advanced diagnostic infrastructure, equipped with X-ray, ultrasound machine, CT-scan, and ECG capabilities for accurate, timely diagnoses.

Our integrated approach is strengthened by our Mother & Child Unit, featuring prenatal and postnatal wards, a delivery room, and NICU facilities, ensuring that both mothers and newborns receive the very best care.

In-Patient Care: Quality Healthcare Made Accessible

One of our significant achievements is making quality healthcare truly accessible to all families. Our unique approach includes:

No Charges for Accommodation – free in-patient stay, ensuring financial barriers never prevent a child from receiving care.
No Charges for Procedures – no doctor or staff fees; families pay only for consumables used.
Affordable Care through DDC (Drugs, Diagnostics & Consumables) – our Drugs, Diagnostics & Consumables model ensures access to care at significantly discounted rates.

The Swaasthya Experience – What Families Tell Us

What truly sets Swaasthya apart is not just our infrastructure or affordable cost model, but the compassionate care of our doctors and nursing staff. Parents consistently share how they feel deeply reassured that their child is in safe, gentle hands. They tell us:

“We could focus on being parents, not caretakers — the doctors and staff made sure our child received every bit of attention needed.”

“We felt complete peace of mind — our child was cared for, and we didn’t have to stress about overwhelming hospital bills.”

It is this combination of medical excellence, genuine compassion, and affordability that earns the trust of families and inspires them to share their experience with others. At Swaasthya, children go home healthier and happier, and parents leave with peace of mind and satisfaction.

Beyond the Hospital Walls – Our Outreach

At Swaasthya, we believe pediatric care cannot stop at the hospital door. Alongside clinical treatment, our Pediatrics Department prioritizes prevention, education, and early detection through health camps, school screenings, and community awareness programs.

Over the past two years, our pediatric team has regularly visited schools across the Annamayya district, screening children for anemia, malnutrition, dental problems, and mental health concerns. In many instances, we have also provided free medicines and conducted awareness sessions with children, parents, and school staff on hygiene and preventive care.

Most recently, we launched an initiative to screen all schools in Madanapalle city—both public and private—with the aim of detecting health issues early and collaborating with local authorities for timely corrective action. These steps mark only the beginning of our long-term effort to make preventive child health a shared community responsibility.

The Health Reality in Our Region

The results from our outreach make one fact clear: children in our region face significant and recurring health challenges. Our screenings consistently reveal high rates of malnutrition and anemia, widespread dental issues, untreated vision problems, and skin conditions often linked to nutritional deficiencies and hygiene issues. Mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, and behavioural issues remain largely undetected due to lack of structured screening and social stigma.

These findings are not isolated. They reflect broader health trends across Andhra Pradesh and South India:

1.   42% of schoolchildren in Andhra Pradesh were found to have at least one physical morbidity.
2.   Dental caries affect nearly 28.5% of schoolchildren.
3.   Skin infections (35%) and parasitic infections (28%) are highly prevalent among children across South India.

If left unaddressed, these conditions silently erode children’s educational outcomes, self-esteem, and long-term development. That is why we are committed to expanding our school screening program and deepening this study—because every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy and thrive.

By sponsoring or supporting this ongoing study, you can help us bridge critical gaps in children’s health, bring timely care to schools, and influence systemic change. We would be glad to connect and share more details with you.

Our Vision for the Future

By integrating hospital-based pediatric care with school-based outreach, Swaasthya Hospital is working to bridge the gap between illness care and wellness promotion. Our vision is to make preventive, promotive, and curative healthcare accessible to every child—regardless of where they live. Healthy children learn better, grow stronger, and lead brighter futures. At Swaasthya, we’re investing in their health today to secure our community’s tomorrow.
