The Satsang Seva Mission, in tandem with the administration and Calcutta Foundation working on the ground, has been involved in fundraising for the Bengal Cyclone Relief Project to send relief packages to Sagar Island. Located at the mouth of the river Hooghly and Bay of Bengal, Sagar Island has been badly hit by the cyclone. The families living here are impoverished with agriculture, fishing, and cargo labour being their main occupation.
All families who have temporary houses have been affected, leaving more than 20% of the people completely homeless. As monsoon looms, damaged homes need to be covered urgently. There are four localities in Sagar that the Satsang Seva Mission is working with: Mandirtala, Kali Bazaar, Kachuberia, and Bidhan More.
Relief packages provided by Satsang Seva Mission for the Bengal Cyclone Relief Project will help reconstruct the homes and restart the lives of more than 200 families living in the Kachuberia ghat area.
