On 30 March 2017, The Walk of Hope is organizing a walk in the City of The Hague, starting from the International School of The Hague (ISH), to the Peace Palace. The walk aims at spreading the message of non-violence, tolerance and peace among the participants and in priority the Youth, particularly school and college children. With its motto ‘Oneness of Humanity’, it aims at promoting the idea that what unifies us as mankind is more fundamental than what separates us and that mutual understanding and dialogue lead to greater tolerance, gradually considering the well-being of others as our own. The Youth is at the heart of this initiative. Up to 1,000 students along with teachers and other participants will walk for the Oneness of Humanity. The ISH is highly committed to this wonderful initiative along with the European School of The Hague and other schools who will take part in the walk as well.
In the evening of 30 March, from 16.45 to 18.30 hrs, the ISH is organizing with the Walk of Hope a Youth Conference at the ISH, in partnership with the ESH. The theme will be “Vision of a peaceful and united humanity by and for the Youth”. The event will be attended by the initiator of the Walk of Hope, Sri M, social reformer, peace activist and educationist, who will be the keynote speaker. Mr Adama Dieng, United Nations Under-Secretary General/Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide is special guest speaker at this event. Officials of the municipality will also attend this conference. Students will have a debate about ‘Oneness of Humanity’ with the speakers. There will be a cultural program with music performances by the ISH and the ESH Students and orchestras. The evening will end with the reading of an inter-school joint-declaration by the students in Dutch, English and French on their vision of the Oneness of humanity.
