Objective
To promote sustainable living by encouraging planting of trees.
Sustainable Living
MyTree Project aims to inspire harmony with nature to energise our immediate eco-systems and reducing our personal footprint. The initiatives envisage working closely with governments, businesses and local communities to facilitate sustainable living. The project encapsulates a mode of living where we live within the innate carrying capacity of the planet and inform the stakeholders about the dangers of global warming, increasing pollution, indiscriminate mining, elimination of forest cover, unregulated expansion of urban spaces and exploding population growth will be part of the campaign. Afforestation, rain harvesting and maintenance of water bodies will be undertaken with due diligence.
MyTree
MyTree is inspired by the Sanskrit word – Maitri – meaning amity. Amity conforms to the concept of Manav Ekta (oneness of humanity) propounded by Sri M, which is being implemented through the various programs of the Mission. It is envisioned that by encouraging an individual/community-led partnership to plant trees, a natural human alliance will be formed to ensure a sustainable relationship with nature. This amity or Mytree (derived from Maitri) will become the crux of the proposed initiative.

Impact
- Collaborations: Working hand-in-hand with eNGOs, other organizations, the defence forces, Gram Panchayats, local groups, and individuals have encouraged volunteers and donors alike to support and achieve the goals of the MyTree initiative.
- Creation of Biodiversity Park at Gurgaon: Spearheaded by the NGO “I Am Gurgaon,” The Satsang Foundation (TSF) contributed 1000 saplings, planted by MyTree volunteers at the Aravalli Biodiversity Park in September 2016 spanning an area of 692 acres.
- Plantation Drives: From building sapling nurseries to plantation drives, The Satsang Foundation’s green initiative has gathered great momentum with Bengaluru city becoming the launch pad of MyTree. Plantation of saplings of local tree species have been organized at Chandigarh, Chennai, The Sacred Grove at Chowdepalle, Coimbatore, Delhi, Ernakulam, Hyderabad, Madanapalle, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, The Peepal Grove School at Sadum.
- Each One, Plant Two Movement: This movement encourages the planting of saplings in an individual capacity, nurturing and caring for them in the spirit of maitri – friendship with Nature.
- MyTree Academy Workshops: These workshops are being carried out in schools in Nashik and its vicinity by trained MyTree volunteers under the aegis of the Aviral Godavari Mission to help create sapling nurseries with the active involvement of students. Saplings are being given to students to nurture, until they are ready to be transplanted on the Brahmagiri. The objective is to sow seeds of maitri in young minds, the future of Bharat and sensitize them to blossom into environmental stewards.
