The MyTree initiative by Sri M seeks to fulfill Manav Ekta Mission’s aim of promoting sustainable living by encouraging planting of trees. MyTree is inspired by the Sanskrit word – Maitri – meaning amity. This initiative promotes Manav Ekta (oneness of humanity) by encouraging an individual/community-led partnership to plant trees—a human alliance that ensures a sustainable relationship with nature. Hon Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan, in the presence of Sri M, inaugurated the Kerala State-level MyTree initiative on 10 June 2016 at VJT Hall, Trivandrum.
The Thrissur Chapter of the Manav Ekta Mission’s MyTree initiative had organised a group planting on 7 September 2016 at Vilangankunnu, Thrissur. Called the ‘Manav Ekta Circle for Human Oneness’, the initiative featured a group planting of Red Sandalwood (Rakta Chandanam) saplings by 67 prominent social, cultural and religious leaders, along with Sri M. The 67 saplings were placed in a circular shape to be called the Manav Ekta Circle. The thought behind this is to welcome people, of all communities and beliefs, to come together at this point, shedding their outwardly differences. This unique approach will eventually evolve the Manav Ekta Circle to a Sustainable Central Point of Oneness (SCPO) – spreading the message of peace and harmony, and influencing minds to create a united front against all divisive undercurrents.
The Hon Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan will visit the ‘Manav Ekta Circle for Human Oneness’ at Vilangankunnu, Thrissur on 11 November 2016 at 11.45 pm. He will plant the 68th Red Sandalwood sapling at the venue in the presence of prominent dignitaries, students, and the general public – thus actively supporting and promoting the cause of interfaith harmony, human oneness, and sustainable living. The Thrissur Chapter of the MyTree initiative invites one and all to participate in this landmark event and pledge their support to the initiative.
“The act of planting a tree and taking care of its growth establishes an inner connection with nature. Understanding this inner connection results in our personal growth.” – Sri M
